Who makes the WORST AR-15?

I read through the 'Who makes the best AR-15' thread and got loads of information about good companies. I plan on purchasing an AR-15 soon; hopefully from a kit because they seem a bit cheaper and I want to familiarize myself with the rifle. So I'm wondering- are there any companies that I should absolutely stay away from? I'm not looking for a military grade AR here, but I don't want garbage either. Price <700$. Thanks

The only difference between the plinker and regular Oly's is often quaoted as the lower is cast..........

The Plinker plus is actually forged.

Grab a Del Ton kit and go shooting.

The only AR to truly stay away from is Hesse/Vulcan.

Hesse/Vulcan, and Oly Plinker model are worst.

the base plinker was factory cosmetic seconds, and cast lowers, and uppers.
very crappy.

I have a post around here someplace that shows the Plinker that blew up in a guys hands, all because of poor quality castings.

Olys high end stuff is ok, but thioer low end stuff is REALLY low end.

Didn't Olympic arms made statement saying that those so called olyimpic reciever blowing up turned out to be some cheap knock off made offshore that they are invastigating it? I remenber reading something like that in M4.com or somewhere

"Forgeries! It has come to our attention that someone out there is making forgeries of Olympic Arms products. This person or company is making very low quality products and trying to sell them using our good name. Rest assured that we are investigating the situation and working with the authorities.

Olympic Arms came into possession of an AR-15 with a lower receiver that appeared to be manufactured by us. Our trained eyes quickly realized it was a fake. The receiver was cast aluminum though we have been using forged receivers exclusively for many years now. The fit, finish and casting details are different from the tooling that we used many years ago. The serial number on the lower receiver was not like our system of numbering. The markings on the lower receiver were done by pantograph and were very poor quality. Our lower receiver markings are machined into the surface with great precision. Other parts on the AR-15 as a whole appeared similar to Olympic Arms' but lacked the quality and detail of our machining processes and tooling."

its possible, but they cant refute that POS, those are the pics i got off arfcom.

plus, "cheap knockoffs" cant be imported to the US...just like AKs and such, the chinese ARs that are being imported to Canada and other countries cannot be imported here, and aren't, so how is Oly going to claim its a chinese knockoff?

the hesse/vulcan ad oly plinkers as mentioned. You can get a pretty decent AR for $700 though

Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to go with a Del-Ton build kit. They seem to be what I'm looking for in my price range. Hopefully I can get it sooner rather than later

Good idea, Tec. Mine is a Del-ton 16" kit with a Stag stripped lower. The color match is perfect and I haven't had a single malfunction yet.

You won't be disappointed.
