Default Training with Scott Reitz of ITTS

During the last 25 years I have had the opportunity to train with many of the top instructors and schools throughout the US. During the last 5-6 years, my short list of who I wanted to train with consisted of Scott Reitz from I.T.T.S.

    http://www.internationaltactical.com/

Last week I was able to train with him in Allentown PA, the class was an Advanced Handgun Course. There were 11 students total, 9 active LEOs, 1 former LEO (myself) and 1 retired Navy vet.

I can say without a doubt that it was an honor and privilege to train with Mr. Reitz, or Uncle Scotty as he is referred too. His teaching ability combined with his vast knowledge and practical real-world experience are first rate. A true expert on the subject matter.

At this moment in time, if I was asked by anyone to recommend the one person that they should seek out for real-world practical firearms training, it would most definitely be Scott.

I know that there are lots of good instructors out there right now, but if you get a chance to train with Scott jump on it.

He is definitely on my short list and we may try to get him here next year.

However, I do feel fortunate having had two classes (handgun and carbine) from Larry Mudgett who just happens to be the guy that taught Scott Reitz how to shoot.

    TonyF,

If you do try to get Scott out to the Pittsburgh area, depending on the class, I may have a group of people (5-6 easily) interested in taking a class with him.

(I talked to him a little bit about coming out to Pittsburgh while I was in Allentown, he is interested if the logistics work out.)

    Cool.

We may as well get on that right now.

    ShawnL,

The Intermediate class in Pelham NH was going to be $575 for 3 days, as was the Advanced Handgun Class that I took in Allentown. (the link for the class that you posted is one of his LA based classes.)

Here is the link to his background,

The class that I took in Allentown was this one:

I pm'ed TonyF with a suggestion to try to schedule this class in Pittsburgh,

This Intermediate Class in TX is the same one that I was going to take originally in Pelham, NH this October. It did not go and I rolled over to the Advanced Class in Allentown. I actually liked the curriculum for the Intermediate class better when I was looking at the classes, even though it meant driving an extra 6 hours.

Scott Reitz recently retired from LAPD's "D" Platoon. D Platoon is LAPD's SWAT unit. Scott ranks among a handful of LAPD SWAT luminaries that include Larry Mudgett who BTW was one of the initial members of the original LAPD SWAT unit when it was first organized in the late 60's.

You do not want to miss a Scott Reitz class.

The Intermediate class sounds appropriate to me as we'd have a number of students with Giles Stock and Randy Cain level 1 courses to feed enrollment.

    Otto,

What's your take on the commitment of your group?

    TonyF,

I can pretty much guarantee 5 (with a posibilty of a few more), again, 7 of us are planning a trip to TDI in Ohio in May, so a later date of possibly September would be ideal.

Thank you for any considerations given.

    Otto

(I set up a PA Firearms Law class with Pete earlier this year and we had 20 for that class without any problem, but the price break was a lot different.)
