Hey Ak guys what red dot type of scope for my AK74

Im looking to mount a red dot type of scope on my AK74...any recommendations..its not gonna be anything expensive...It can be a knock off of a type like a ACOG knock off or something..im not in combat..I dont plan on going to combat lol so its just a fun range gun. im looking in the $100 or LESS range.

A few months back I picked up a Bushnell TRS 25 red dot for my Saiga. I got it at Cabelas for only $79 on sale (was $179). I have seen a few back in the bargain cave as well.

I must say that I LOVE this red dot.....much better than the holographic knock off that I had on there. I used it for 3-gun and did very, very well with it. In fact, it was the best scoring I've EVER had in the rifle portion! It is just balls on accurate at the 50 yard or less distances I was shooting.

It is indeed rock solid and hasn't lost zero in about 500 rounds so far. The Bushnell looks real nice on there as well.

An Aimpoint H-1 is out of your price range, but its what I would suggest. Ive heard good things about the Primary Arms clones.

I mounted a rail to my dust cover for the Bushnell (drilled and tapped the holes). I know that it's considered a big no-no in most AK circles (mounting sight to the dust cover) but mine is ROCK solid with absolutely no movement at all. I can't make my dust cover move a fraction by grasping it by hand and rocking it......and like I said it has not lost zero at all. Gas tube mounts can also be a problem due to heat.....especially with a red dot (it's a known killer!). I will get a quick release side rail mount over the winter so I can swap back and forth between the red dot for my Romanian scope.

I think for $79, it's one of the better deals out there for sure!

what ever happened to the LaRue iron dot?

dont know...i think they are redoing it..but its way out of my price range anyways at almost 3X what I can spend(last I saw it was around $300)

Whoever the sight manufacture was (I think Bushnell) changed the design of the model that the mount used. So they have to redesign the mount for the new sight. This is what the one person at the LaRue booth told me at the SHOT show. I think they are busy doing other things that sell better. I hope they get around to redoing it cause I would like to get one.
