There has been a lot of controversy and speculation on the laws of open carry in Philadelphia and the way Philadelphia police handle open carry. For some time Philadelphia police were directed to confiscate firearms from persons open carrying and possibly arrest them. Recently all commanding officers and department heads were sent a directive concerning open carry in Philadelphia. This should end all speculation on the subject of open carry in Philadelphia

Philly is NOT chosing to ignore the law, If you read the directive, it explains IN DETAIL how the Philly Police are to respond to open carry individuals.

Why is it worded a seperate license is needed in philadelphia?
The word seperate scares me, is it thier view that you need a philly LTCF to open carry in philly?
it should say any valid LTCF that is recognized in the state of PA.

PA doesn't issue a "Concealed Carry Firearms License." It issues a License to Carry Firearms. "Conceal" isn't even written on my license.

Whoever wrote that drivel needs to be beaten about the face and head with the MPOETC update on OC from 2009.

We did not right this. It came directly from the Philadelphia police department.That being said, don't concern yourself with the word seperate. A carry permit issued by any county in PA IS recognized in Philadelphia.
