LTCF - Error
I obtained my LTCF about 5 months ago prior to even owning a handgun in anticipation of purchasing on. I went to the Sherrif's office (Berks) filled out the paperwork, waited and got my LTCF rather quickly (45mins tops). They had me verify name and address I did and went on with my day. I got home and stored the license for future use. I recently purchased a handgun and just recently became comfortable CC. Just a couple of days ago I reached for my LTCF and decided to check it. I noticed that my RACE was incorrectly noted on the LTCF. It shows "W" and yet I am Hispanic. Before anyone gives me the speech, I know it was my responsibility to make sure it was correct before I left that day. Unfortunately it was an oversight on my part and my LTCF has been stored since the day I got it. Is this something I should be concerned with and take care of immediately? I'm surprised I didn't catch this when I first got my license. Before anyone gives me the speech, I know it was my responsibility to make sure it was correct before I left that day. Unfortunately it was an oversight on my part.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

If you're a Mark Texeira, Antonia Banderas, or Desi Arnaz type of Hispanic... then I wouldn't worry about it.
But if you're more a Sammy Sosa, Pele', or Miguel Tejada type of Hispanic, well... maybe you should get it corrected.Last edited by Robert Kayland; October 1st, 2010 at 01:23 PM.

Re: LTCF - Error
Just go down to the Sheriff's office and have it changed. I've had to have corrections on my LTCF a couple times(different renewals) after having had the license in my possession a little while.
You may want to call ahead and let them know you need a correction made, and what it is. They may even just mail you a replacement.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Best to call the Sheriff Office to check, but that shouldn't be a problem considering the primary comparator is your picture on the license. I can see how a W could be mistaken for H too. My PA LTCF has one of the #'s in my zip as 8 instead of 3, my Utah CFP has an N in my middle name instead of an H. Neither spelling error gives me any reason to have the licenses corrected.

ETA: I can't imagine a cop will raise a stink with "You don't look white". My Utah CFP does not have "Race" at all.Last edited by mythaeus; October 1st, 2010 at 01:25 PM.

Re: LTCF - Error
In 2005 when I renewed my LTCF they made it out with an expiration date of 2015 (it's good for 5 years not 10). I didn't see this immediately but once I did I took it back in and showed them. They used White-Out over the 15 in the date and wrote in 10.
I was pretty shocked but ...
It was this way until I renewed earlier this year.

Wow, 45 minutes to get your LTCF in Berks. It has been 30 days for me in Northampton and still no LTCF in the mail for me.

Dude! You got a freebie! Don't give it away.
That's like a "get out of jail free" card!==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
