    Default Pa. Pistol trade question?

    OK, if me and another Pa. resident trade pistols heads up with no money exchanged,do we both pay the $25 each or what ever the place charges transfer fee? just wondering because i have never traded a pistol and i am looking to trade one.

    yup - for handguns / pistols, you got it.

    Both take the guns to an FFL, both do the paperwork, both pay the FFL.

    Yes, there typically is a transfer fee for each pistol transferred. The cost can very from $10-$50 each. Hope that helps.

    Essentially what happens is you turn your pistols over to the FFL/Dealer and they transfer them to you and your pal. For that record keeping and paperwork, you must pay.

    You may get a discount for two transfers...shop around. I normally do when purchasing two guns from my local dealer.

    In the scenario presented, no one is transferring two or more firearms. Two individuals are each transferring one firearm. PICS approval numbers are good for 24 hours, so a dealer could use the same number for someone purchasing two firearms. Not so for two individuals each seeking a single transfer.

    I should have elaborated further...a few times I ordered two firearms from AIM one for me and one for my brother. Local dealer would charge $15 per transfer instead of the customary $25.
