Default AR 15 Upper replacement question

I have a BM with a fixed handle and want to replace only the stripped upper to a flat top. Anyone ever replace a barrel or is this something I need a gunsmith for?

there are some special tools you would need and a vice, but you could do it yourself or ask if any of the members living around you would be able to help you. offer bacon or beer as payment!

quick video i found that could help you out

Thanks for the reply and the video. I always keep plenty of bacon for just such on occasion.

I did exactly what you want to do. It was easy, I just borrowed the vice block and wrench from a buddy.

    Preferably both!

I've done it on a couple, including a bushmaster.

Bushmaster does not use anti-seize on their threads...or at least they didn't. Get a breaker bar, PB Blaster, and at least a 6 pack.

    Good luck.
