Para Ordnance... Thoughts?

Im going to be in the market for a few pistols and I came across some Para's that I thought were interesting. Particularly the Double Stack LDA models.

Anyone have any experience with these? Are New Better than old? Things to look for? Models to avoid? How are their 9, 40, and 45 versions?

I have a new found interest in 1911's and have been shooting the one i own more and more lately and would like to get another. Any insight is appreciated!

I have a LDA DX1445E, LDA CTX189B, and a true 1911 GI45S.

Love em all! At first, I did not like the CTX, it has front dot and back blade. The DX, 3 dots (I like). My EDC is the DX1445.

The DX, I was in a NRA PPIH class. Broke the guide rod somewhere in the shooting portion of the class. Did not discover it until I got home to clean it. Kept on shooting. Dont know if it was the 1st or 100th round.

Customer service..... Sent them pics of the guide rod (2 pieces). It is a SHORT rod about 1.75 inches. They sent me a 5 inch rod. Emailed back thanking them for the rod, but it will not work. They sent me a short rod and a plug with a hole in it for the 5 inch rod. So, now I have 2!

I'm happy with them.

They dont seem to make a lot of guns that they used to... anyone know why?

Like the for example the P14.40, Tac-Four, Carry 12- all look like excellent carry guns... did they not catch on? Or were they faulty in some way?

...if they are everything they seem to be i can't WAIT to get one...

When they were making lots of guns all I heard was raving reviews. There hi capacity guns were the rave for a while then came the Glock and other polymer guns and it kond of took the winds out Para Ord sails then I started hearing about mag problems and hard get mags.

But for hi cap 1911s in 45acp -40 cal - 38super dbl and single stack they were the man for a while. They also made a neat smooth as butter DAO 1911.

Then came the Glock.

I did hear of a few issues with the mags, but then also heard they are easy fixed with a higher strength spring...

I have 2 Paras and they are both flawless, a LDA TAC-s and a LTC, never a failure in any of them , mind you the LTC is still new , but so far no failures whatever.

Para has cut thier line of guns due to the recession, i believe all makers have cut back.

Can we confirm that it was due to the ecconomy and not QC issues? - I ask only because some people swear by them, other owners seem iffy.

Bottom line, would you trust your life to it? Cause if im going to buy one, i need to be able to.

I want so badly for them to be the awesome double stack 1911's that I think they are... haha.

The DX1445 is my EDC gun. So, YES!

And to the person asking about the GI45, YES to that too in stainless (GI45S). I had ONE FTF with it. When I ejected the round the case mouth was boogered up. I dont know if it was from the FTF or from the factory that way. It eats my reloads like candy....
