Questions about LTC
Hello everyone!
I was thinking about getting a LTC along with my father. My father is 80yrs young and I am 38yrs of age. I live with with my parents, my father who I mentioned and my mom who is 65years of age.
Here are the reasons why we are thinking of getting a LTC:
1) We live in a Township that does not have a Police department. Self-Defense.
2) Hunting.
3) Target Shooting.
Who could we ask questions to, to find out the likelyhood of obtaining a LTC before we send in the applications?

Re: Questions about LTC
so long as you're not a prohibited person you should have no problem getting a ltcf. just put down self defense as it's valid for any purpose

Re: Questions about LTC
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: Questions about LTC
The licensing statute specifies several reasons, and allows for "other". Unless you specify a reason that gives the issuing authority grounds to believe that you pose a risk ("annoying neighbors", "zombie hordes", or "watering the tree of liberty" would be problematic), any generic reason should suffice.

Re: Questions about LTC
If you can (legally) own a gun you should have no issues at all in obtaining your LTCF. As far as your reasons for needing one, self defense is as good as any.

Re: Questions about LTC
Put "self-defense" for the reason.
It may not make a difference in a court of law, but it may make a difference on the street if your license says "fishing" and you are not fishing when the bottom of the barrel cop wants to discuss it with you.
Similarly, PA has reciprocity with other other states, and some of those states have rules about carrying in a car or wherever unless the license/permit is approved for "defense" or "protection." Again, not sure it would make a difference in a court of law, but outside PA I wouldn't expect an LEO on the street to understand that it's all the same in PA.

Re: Questions about LTC
The 2A does not GIVE us the right. It tells the gov they can not INFRINGE our right.

Re: Questions about LTC
list of questions:
1)can you purchase a gun. (ie. no felonies, PFA, etc)
if you answered "yes" to all of the above questions and pay your fee, you will be issued a LTCF.
as others have said, i recommend using "self defense" as your reason to carry, as it will help alleviate proplems should you encounter a stupid cop instead of a savvy one (and since the savvy ones know you aren't breaking any laws, they probably won't bother you anyway.)ONE TO THE HEAD!!!!
