Have you done a search at all? Just curious.
You will get a lot of negative feedback about any sub-4" 1911 pistols. You will also get a handful of people claming zero issues with theirs.
Springfield makes a quality middle-of-the-road 1911. I have only ever shot their full sized GI model (thanks Johnny!) but they're nice. The SA EMP gets good reviews but only comes in 9mm and .40. I am still on the fence between a micro and 'champion' (4") SA 1911.
Rock Island makes a nice 3.5" model. I've got my eye on one of them as well!Originally Posted by GunLawyer001

my experience is with the 5" Rock Island, but its been absolutely flawless so far on running. i didnt even break it in. the first 100 rounds i fed it were 200 gr HP reloads and it runs like a top. works damn well too with 230gr FMJs. i cant imagine that the 3.5" model would be bad.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

really like the full-size 1911s personally. or maybe the 4.25" versions, I think s&w makes one.

If you want a single stack .45 that works all the time dont forget Kahr. I personally recommend their P45. Its dao though which is what I prefer in a defensive handgun (but not in a range gun). New between 5 and 6, used just over 4.

Re: suggestions on carry pistol
I wouldnt recommend a micro 1911 as a carry. A carry gun must be downright reliable and those micro 1911's are not, their is a reason why most if not all top notch custom gun makers dont make them .
As mentioned the Kahr .45's are good but they kick a lot, also the Glock 36 is a good gun, thin light and reliable but it only carries 6 rounds.

Re: suggestions on carry pistol
Get a 5" 1911. If you're printing-paranoid, get one with a bobbed frame. It isn't so much to give up to have an extra inch or two down your pants' leg, and the full frame buys you at least an extra round. Just remember that cheap metal magazines with metal followers don't mix with aluminum/alloy-framed 1911s; for those, insist on Wilson with polymer followers. 3" guns don't have a good reputation for a pretty good reason, and once you get the pistol apart you discover the special hell of ultra-heavy springs.

Here is another thought. Look at the Sig P220 Carry. Damn good gun.

IMO:
For a light, sleek .45... its hard to beat a glock 36.
6+1 of .45 in a nice little package!
Accurate, compact, and pretty much snag-free outside.
Dont be fooled by negative comments on the web - those were from early models that had magazine feeding issues.
Those issues have been corrected and the new ones run like a top!
I've had one for a little while now and its my primary carry; havent had one problem so far.
Like I said, its just my opinion - but they are worth looking at.My feedback (formerly bigjlen): http://forum.pafoa.org/feedback-109/76092-bigjlen.html
