That's a hell of a price, providing it is just bluing wear and not rubbed off because someone was trying to remove rust. Check the bore.

Prices on Winchester lever guns went nuts after Winchester went under - even the lowly 94. If it said "Winchester" and was a lever gun, people thought it was an instant collectible. Your posting is the first common sense price (precluding abuse) that I've seen.

The "AE" stood for "angle eject". This feature was added to prevent the ejected brass from hitting a scope that was mounted over the bore CL.

    Good luck.

the old lever guns where nice and all for what the intended use. In that shape its not to badly price. It is a winchester but is it the carbine version or does it have the longer barrel.
Either way not to bad for shape or price. But I'll stay with a bolt alot better fo accurcy

They are fine but don't expect any better than 4-6' groups (at very best) at 100 yards. And, for OLDER shooters iron sites are more challenging.

They are nostalgic - and they are Winchesters!

Try using BRONZE WOOL to remove the rust. Bronze wool is much softer than steel wool and does less damage. If you are carefull and go slow there will be no damage from the bronze wool.

If you can't find sine grade bronze wool, just make sure that the steel wool you use is 0000 (quadruple ought). I use this with CLP to take care of surface rust without damaging the finish.
