Default Is the pump faster then an auto Shotgun?

Is the pump faster then an auto Shotgun? I've seen demo were Shot guners have timed both Shot guns and the pump could be shot faster by these men ( I can't do it).

But I have seen in Ultimate Warrior shooting that Swat and Green Bera beat out a German unit using the Beneli auto vs. there 870 pump speed and accurscy being the factor. So I guess when you have to aim and hit your target the auto is faster rather then just how many times you can get a round off?

It would depend upon the shooter.

    Neko,
    I agree with Marquis.

I think the proper question would be, "Are you a faster shot with an auto or a pump."
I know that my answer would be with the auto... my 1187 more specifically.

I averaged 8 shots on target with my 870 in about 3 seconds a couple years back... had a friend time my shoots. I'm sure I can go faster now... as was said, depends on the shooter.
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

It depends on the shooter. An auto will generally operate at the same speed each time, where as a really fast operator can pump faster than the auto can cycle. However with pumpguns you are dealing with a relatively long stroke, most people will not be faster than a auto shotty.

I can pull my trigger on my AR15, 1911, and P99 faster than the gun can cycle.

hence the desireability of "slam fire" shotguns like the pre-1972 ithaca 37. you just keep the trigger back and stroke.

I know it doesnt much carry over, but in paintball pump actions that fire on pump handle forward return have a feature called "Auto-trigger.

    Similar happening.

    You can't "short stroke" a semi-auto.
