The longest range we have around here

Is on private land. Local range has up to 300 yards, the targets were estimated to be at 360 yards using mil dots.

The targets might be a little hard to see. If you look at the cart path in the middle, you can see a darker tree about halfway up.

Two targets were placed in the clearing right below the tree to make it easier to locate them at that range. The rifle in the picture is my marlin 917v, which, was not used for this long range shot. I need to get to a known distance range, and zero is. And I am saving longer shots for a new rifle. I am thinking about building a stevens 200 in .223, and using it to reach out a little farther if we place the targets higher up the hill.

The rifle that was used for this shot, is a savage 10fcp, I am unsure of the optics. I do not have pictures of the target handy, my buddy (this is at his place) kept the targets. Two shots landed within half an inch of each other, with one shot landing about a foot to the right, and a little low. Wind speed was claimed by the weather channel at 10mph, but we estimated it at around 12-14.

The reason for the marlin there, was to use the barska 6-24x, as a spotting scope.

I am planning on getting the .223 started as soon as the wedding is taken care of (next summer). And, my in laws are acquiring a new piece of property. Which, should allow us to stretch out our range on these shots.

My friend (who took the shot) does troll the forums, but never posts. So, I figure he will notice this, and get a kick out of it. As, I am sure some of you will.

There were no houses in the line of sight, the closest one is quite a ways off to the right, not viewable in the picture. All safety precautions were taken, and protective gear was used.

I have to talk to him, see if I can get him to send me a picture of the target to show the two shots that were amazingly close together.

Yeah, those kids these days would be better armed than most militias lol.

This is only a temporary thing, as the inlaws are buying some nice property that will give me a bit longer range. I only wish I had something to shoot at that distance. Could my .17 hmr make it that far. Yeah, but I think accuracy at that distance would be sub par.

I've browsed realtor sites and used google earth looking for houses with lots of land. I've yet to find a house in this corner of the state that doesn't have another house within 550 yards. I have simple goals in life, I just want to buy a 338LM and shoot at targets 1,000 meters away from my back porch. Something akin to "Secondhand Lions."

Nice range ya got there. And nice to see it put to good use. One of my lottery dreams is a piece of land a bit deeper than 1000yds so I can shoot as I wish, when I wish. Don't worry, you'll all be invited. Make a sort of private Knobs Creek on the range.

I think ours goes out to 1000 Yds..not 100% sure as ive never shot that far lol..but I believe it does
