    rodder,

You can take the chance if you want but NY Sucks. I will tell you that if you have a shotgun you are probably good to go as for peaceable journey. The key in NY is handguns. I say should be cause they could have changed it.

I lived the NYS nightmare for 38 years. Do a search on this site under my posts and see what I wrote about the procedure to get a pistol permit in NYS. By the way that is not for carry it is for poseesion/carry. Go to a NYS gun store ask to see a handgun and you must produce that permit. You cant even legally touch a handgun in NYS without a permit.

    Good luck and be smart.

oh yeah.... I remenber those days...
Really stupid you can't look at the piece unless you have permit. My best friend had NY CCW(yes, they DO issue those time to time, if you know the right person. His dad was town judge), and he used to take me out to wood and we popped off few from his G17. I was joures. but process you needs to go through to get a permit/CCW in NY was simply rediculeous. It just was not worth it

I was really in to collecting old mil gun, and I really wanted to look at this Nambu Type 14, and dealer showed it to me after hour when noone was around. And told me do not tell anyone.

He was good guy (RIP Mudge )

You can transport any firearm through NY, doesn't matter if it violates the 10 round capacity limit. So long as its legal from and to the state your from/to and you follow the federal transport law (get a copy to carry on you), you're fine.

However for purposes not related to transporting through the state....

You cannot posess ANY firearm in NY without a permit issued from that state....

There are exceptions but unless your a competition shooter forget about it.

Open carry will get you shot and dead and the LEO will get a medal...

Basically NY is NO firearms state unless you have a NY permit...

You can open carry, but not in a car or philladelphia or obviously any place firearms are off limits.

If you're going to transport it, transport it via the federal trasport laws. You have a slight issue in that while your in a car, you're not going to and from a firearms store or target shooting. Lie, lie like a rug if your stopped. Say you're coming from an outdoor range in NY, your backyard something... Because you're only allowed to transport a firearm in PA to and from a gun store/target range and your home via vehicles.
