Default Re: So pa permit doesn't work in NY what about open carry?

As I understand it she did an overnight in NY with a friend before going to the airport. She stopped in NY thus breaking peaceable journey

Everyone's post is good and all but they are all irrelevant.

ANY pistol in NY MUST be registered. It doesn't matter whether you live in NY or not.

If you are traveling through NY to another friendly state then keep it unloaded in a lockbox and keep a copy of peaceable journey in your car/truck.

There was a case not to long ago of a women who was in New Hampshire and was flying out of NY. She was arrested at the airport for trying to check in her luggage an unregistered handgun. Which is interesting because peaceable journey should apply, but doesn't directly mention whether going to an airport to fly out is an extended stop.

This is the only exemption I see:

DeltaII5 is absolutely correct. You can't have a pistol in New York State without it being registered, and being in possession of a New York State pistol license, which they don't issue to non-residents. Leave it at home if you want to be in compliance with the law.

Damn, going all the way to NY state for a rural country bar? You pass plenty of them on your way from wmspt to the NY border...and I have been in most or them.

You cannot possess a firearm in NY while in your car unless you're traveling from a state to a state where you can legally possess said firearm. If so then you need to transport it in a specific way dictated by law. You're not going through NY to get to Vermont so forget about it.

SO going to a friends house a bar a range anything in NY is out for you, period. Don't do it. I repeat DON'T DO IT.

If you get caught with it you're going to jail for FIVE YEARS!

No plead bargain, do not pass go, do not collect $200. You're going to jail. Flat out. Unless you like being bubba's bitch don't take your firearm into NY....

You can stop for lodging, she must have had a bad lawyer... Now if she stayed two days well then she's an idiot for telling the authorities that.

Not just the five years, you are also a convicted felon at that point and you get to give up all of your weapons that you were formerly allowed to own here in Pa. I'm with excel on this one 100%.
