Re: HK 416 .22 LR
S&W M&P15/22 is a REAL-deal S&W made and S&W branded product.
Same for the SIG522; a REAL SIG.
Same for the GSG5's - GSG makes .22LRs that look like something else - HK94s - but do not attempt to trademark or brand them as such. Just cosmetic shells of unbranded replica clones with a .22LR action inside. (HK didn't like the exacting similarities and sued for changes to stop the replication.)
Umarex has deep roots in the airsoft world, and they know what makes an airsofter's blood run hot; ARs and MP5s being #1 and #2 in sales.
Umarex contracted with Walther to make .22LR guns basically "inside of cosmetic shells" of ARs, HK94's, MP5s, and HK416s - all with the trademarks and branding that Umarex paid dearly to license.
A stroke of genius as airsofters turn 18 and buy a real-steel rifle they are already familiar with.
Internet BS has it that Umarex has been licensing everything from MP40s to FG42's. We may live to see a .22LR HKG36 before 2099 afterall, and an affordable .22LR MP44 before 3010!!All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
