    Default PA Career Services

Is a no go for carrying. At the PA Career Svc's I went to security was tight, there were secruity at the entrance with immediate contact to the local PD, more CCTs than a Vegas casino, a specific pass required where ever you went, and upon your first visit you must sign a code of conduct sheet which clearly states no weapons in the building or in the parking lot. (They however do not have metal detectors which I was surpised with all the security).

Is that the same as Careerlink? I googled pa career services; however, the search came up with nothing I thought was related.

Second, if it is the same would not preemption apply?

Careerlink, sorry, it's the services PA offers to help the unemployed find a job. I had to attend last week, they made it sound like jury duty, if I didn't show up I could loose my unemployent. There were no visible signs I could see at the entrance saying no firearms. And their code of conduct clearly said no firearms in the building or the parking lot, so I guess next time I have to attend I'll have to travel naked

Being a State agency, I don't think preemption would apply....however, is it on the list of prohibited places? No different than a DMV photo center if you ask me.

Which building did you go to? The downtown Alcoa building has security but if you go to a local office like forrest hills there is nothing. When I had to go I never had to sign anything?

That's what I would think also.

The only way out of attending is if you get your jobs through a union hall, and are going to be called back to work at a later date. I was scheduled last winter and got out of it because I knew this. Interestingly the program is not actually part of unemployment compensation, they let you assume that and do threaten you with the loss of benefits. Can they or have they? I don't know.
