I have some +P 115gr Cor Bon. You want the bullet to stay in the bad guy not go threw him. I'd think shooting someone in your home would be at a very close range.

I also suggest CorBon DPX or CorBon Powrball.

Shot placement is most important, but if you have an exterior wall, 5-10ft of space and then another exterior wall there's a good chance any JHP won't go into your neighbors. CorBon Powrball will almost definitively not go through into your neighbors.

I would give my vote to the federal Hydro shock 124 gr
I carry them in my ccw 9mm and have no feed problems in a xd 9mm put a whole box through to be sure
As for over penetration as was stated earlier there is a lot for that hollow point to dissipate energy on should you miss the target but at home defense ranges say 5-10 yards a hit would be fairly assured if you keep in practice with your pistol

If money was no object, I would probably go with Corbon DPX in my 9mm's.

Since money is an issue (I like to run a couple mags of my SD ammo through my carry gun pretty frequently), I like the following:

    Winchester Ranger SXT 127 +P+ (RA9TA)
    Federal HST 124 +P
    Federal 9BPLE 115 +P+

All can be found in the L.E. 50 ct. boxes for about $25, which is about half what you pay per round in those silly little 20 rd. boxes.

All have good velocity, and the 9BPLE, even though a dated bullet design, still consistently sends 115 grains at an honest 1,300 fps, and has a good track record.

Plenty of other 9mm JHP will work just fine, in all honesty. I personally don't like the Pow 'R Ball or Safety Slug, as the penetration seems pretty lacking. I like something moving at 1,200 fps or more, preferably in the 124 gr. range.

But it's all personal preference and choice - And there's really only a handful of bad choice out there, IMO.

    Regards,

    Bones

    Yep, me too.

Federal Hydra-Shok is the same round used by my L.E.O. buddy in his duty weapon. Federal only sells the loaded cartridges, so you can't get the bullets for reloading only.
They're the ones that look like a Tamper-proof Torx head screw, with the pin in the center.

And remember... 9mm = .45 set on stun!

But if the round does not expand it is possibly less useful than a stun gun. At least a stun gun will stop the BG.

This is what I decided to carry after some substantial research as well. Go for the LEO 50-packs and save yourself some money versus the civilian 25 packs (which cost as much as the 50 packs).

Federal HST is also a good choice, but can be hard to get.
