Been looking at a few mount/rail options for my Galil clone. After seeing the limited options I do have... more questions come about.

My first option is the most common which is the UTG Galil quad rail http://www.botachtactical.com/utggaqura.html ($70-$80) which looks nice on the rifle but I could care less about looks. It appears that the top rail blocks the dustcover and would need to be removed to field strip. Would I have to rezero any optics I used on this rail after cleaning? 2nd someone mentioned cutting and shortening the rail to allow removal of the dust cover... wary of that. 2nd concern... does it block use of Iron Sights? I know people who use other UTG variants of this and I haven't heard any complaints.

Second option is http://www.commandarms.com/product.asp?pID=282&cID=54 and does not block removal of the dust cover for field stripping. However it does appear to block the Irons and I would need to mount an optic really far forward might be weird.

There is a Third option but $400 for a quad rail.... not likely.

Looking for anyone else who tackled this problem and how you did it.

Thanks,
Rob
