    Default Home Defense Ammo loads

I have a Remington 870 Synthetic and a Benelli M4, but not being into Shotguns I'm interested in what other board members are using for home defense loads with stopping power.

By "ammo loads", do you mean, re-loads? home-loads?

If so, personally, I would never, ever, under any circumstance use anything other than brand-name factory loads for self-defense.

The reason is that, should the worst come to happen, a corrupt DA will tell the jury that you personally fine-tuned your ammunition to cause the most amount of harm/killin'.

I agree 100%. Preferably what the local PD uses.

000 Buck is my shotgun load for home defense. If you live in a home with nearby neighbors, or in an apartment, this might not suit you well. Nearly any load larger than BBs is going to be effective.

    00 Buck
But whatever load you want to try, buy a box of several brands and try them before buying in bulk, different ones will shoot different like the amount of spread and power.

I have some 00 buckshot, but also picked up some Winchester PDX1 in 12 gauge. The recoil is similar to that of the 'low recoil' buckshot that I have, and the load includes a slug with rifling molded into it, in addition to three pellets of buckshot. My son and I opened one up out of curiosity. I'll try to get some pics up in a day or two.
