Re: Shotgun
Numrich?
Don't see that model listed, if you can't find anything call or email them.

Re: Shotgun
OK your going to need to do some web searching, I just did a google search on "jc higgins model 583" and a few sites are showing different names like Hi Standard & Sears with different model numbers too.
Also they use a "." instead of a "-" between the numbers, that can make a difference in a web search.
Here's a couple things I found;
"583.22 - High Standard M10,.BA,.20GA"
"583.22 - Hi Std M10, BA 20 Gauge"
"Sears 583.22 - Hi Standard M-10"
When you think you've found all the different names and model numbers go back to Numrich and try them all.
Other then that you could try GunBroker or post a WTB ad on as many forums as you can that your registered to.

Re: Shotgun
"J.C. Higgins" is a Sears brand name. The guns were actually manufactured by a number of different companies. Many Sears J.C. Higgins shotguns were made by The High Standard Arms Co. of Hartford, Conn. They are no longer in business.
IIRC, the model that you have is a bolt action shotgun. That model has a tubular magazine - correct me if I am wrong about that - and parts are available from Numrich Arms. Try this link: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...spx?catid=9749
This is a listing for all parts for the 583.20 series - 12, 16, 20 ga. You have to scroll through and find the parts that you need for the magazine. They have them all. Buying a schematic of the gun would be a help (the part # for the Schematic is PDF0187).
Hopefully, I am on the right track here.
