Default Which would be better suppressed?

    Both .45 ACP. Either a Glock 21 or a 1911 (probably a Springfield TRP).

I'm looking into getting a suppressor for one of the above and would like some help as it would be my first one. I'm leaning more towards the Glock but I would assume a suppressed 1911 would be more reliable (no barrel tilt). Is that correct, or would either function fine?

Also, what are some good brands I should be looking at for suppressors and threaded barrels? I'd like to keep the whole project around $1,000 or less, minus the cost of the pistols.

    Thanks

I am in the process of putting a can on my TRP.
The gun is at a smith getting the barrel fitted.

I got a Storm Lake barrel threaded, link, pin, thread protector, and bushing for around $260.
I went with the SilencerCo Osprey.

As far as the Glock, Lone Wolf barrels.

    Either weapon should be fine.
You will get a piston/LCD/Nealson device no matter what unless you order a can specifically w/o it.
So reguardless of design, you will be fine.
Just make sure you let who ever you are ordering from, what weapon you are using. SilencerCo has a few different pistons for a few different weapons. Mainly clearance for the op-rod when the slide is out of battery.

The top two cans on the market right now for the 45ACP is the SilencerCo Osprey ($850 MSRP), and the AAC Ti-rant ($850 MSRP)
Both are hearing safe while shot dry.
Im sure you can get them a little cheaper calling around to dealers. Bryon at Major Malfunction normally has pretty sweet deals. You just need to have it sent to your local C3 dealer.

If you would like to make the trip. I could let you hear my glock and osprey.
In Lebanon county about 30-45 minutes from york

To answer your question, both pistols would work fine. The glock and lone wolf barrel would be the lower cost option. the osprey with barrel should run you about 850-900. I would try to stick with a local dealer. you could buy from out of state dealers, but most charge 75-150 $ transfer fees or more, any savings would be wasted

Thanks for the replies guys. Still not sure which gun to install it on but it looks like I'll be going with the Osprey.

Force, I might have to take you up on that sometime. Never heard one in person yet.

I'll be different. I went with the HK USP45 Tac as my choice of pistol to suppress. I will be using a Osprey also though I'm still waiting on the stamp! I will also like to pick up a HK45c w/ a threaded barrel to use with it as a smaller choice.

Between the two you have pointed out I would more than likely go with the glock but I also have big hands.

    adding another question here.

Would it work with my TRP's full length guide rod? You know, when the slide is back the guide rod sticks out a little farther than the barrel/muzzle.

Or would I have to get a GI style recoil system?
