Questions re Ruger P95
Disassembled and reassembled the 95, worked the clip, put a Pachy grip on it, got used to the safety release (still unnerves me though as the hammer flies forward) etc. Am getting ready to take it to the range.
Questions:
1) Will the safety eventually "losen"? Currently, I more times than not have to release the safety with one hand while gripping it with the other. Sometimes I can release the safety with one hand, but in the event of a SD situation, I'd like to present and flick safety off in one motion all times, not just once in a while.
2) The slide stop lever, can it also be used as a slide release? Currently, from all the literature that I can find on the 95, I have to grip the back of the slide, pull back and let it fly forward. Is the slide stop only meant to be used to stop the slide, or can it also be the slide release? I know on some guns, like the Ruger MkIII, you cannot use the slide stop as a release as it will wear out the metal that is the slide stop. Is this the same on all Ruger weapons?
3) Will I have to do a complete clean/strip before I take it out to the range? The only round that has gone through this pistol is the test round that Ruger sent. Is this pistol packed with preservative/shipping grease?
4) Is this pistol considered a 15+1, or will that extra round throw off the feed when I engage the magazine?
5) Is the Balckhawk CQC holster a good holster for this pistol? I tested one at the LFS and it will retain the pistol pretty well, and drawing it out seemed fluid enough. Any caveats other than it doesnt come with pockets for extra magazines? Id like a holster that I can use for target shooting and Id like to try some advanced shooting with it, looks to be a wee bulky on the CCW side.
Thanks

Re: Questions re Ruger P95
It should loosen up a little and get a bit easier to release as you shoot it

Thanks Ron! What would be a better holster then, for all-around?

Re: Questions re Ruger P95
Tough to say.
Do you want leather, Kydex or another synthetic, nylon, etc.?
For standard carry (OWB), CC (IWB or OWB), competition, church, work, etc.?
Open top, with/without a retention strap, open or closed bottom?
For just general carrying around and looking pretty good, look at Bianchi or one of the other brands. I have several Bianchis and am very satisfied with the workmanship. I use these a lot when I'm OCing. You can make these very nice looking (like when wearing your Sunday go meeting clothes, or to a upscale BBQ or party).
I know people that have a half dozen holsters for the same gun and they match what put on to what they are wearing, or to the situation they expect. Are you ready? sorta like a woman and her shoes .Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Questions re Ruger P95
Black and brown would be my two colors LOL
Id look for a polymer holster. I dont want something that will retain moisture. Id like some form of retention, but dont favor strap too well as it is something that I think anyone can flip and remove my weapon. Id like for an all around holster....Is there something like that or is it like most specialised equipment, occassion specific?

Blackhawk SERPA holsters are good. You can get them in different colors too.
