Default Utah LTCF vs Florida LTCF

I see some people here have taken tests for these out of state carry licenses. Can someone explain what the benefits of having them are? I'm assuming it lets you carry in states that PA does not have reciprocity with and if so, what ones? I already have my PA LTCF of course and i don't really travel to any other states except maybe nj or maryland and carry is out of the question there anyway. I have a cousin I may visit in VA, but I believe our PA license is valid there, correct?

Just thinking it might not be a bad idea to have one of these just in case. Is one better than the other, please explain.

    Thanks!

You will get arguments back and forth, though with your travel patterns there's probably not much need for either. Utah is less expensive but you need a specific training course. I live close to Delaware and have family in Ohio so there's a benefit for me (I have FL). VA is another choice for non-resident and might make sense for you (eliminates the ambiguous gun-free-school-zone prohibition).

FL is good in these blue states

UT is good in these blue states

VA is good in these blue states

FL covers the same states as VA + a couple more...but there is that school zone coverage as mentioned above.

Some folks get other licenses for where they do travel...others get them "just because you can".

It is. The only "loose end" is the federal gun free school zone prohibition on carrying within 1000 feet of a school unless you have a license issued by that state. It can be interpreted that a reciprocal license doesn't apply and it's virtually impossible to travel anywhere without coming within two blocks of some kind of school, but to my knowledge nobody with a license has ever been charged with it anywhere. There are threads on the topic elsewhere on the forum. Personally I wouldn't bother if that's the only reason.
