Refinished my Ak47!!!
Well, not a real Ak47. A Wasr 10 to be exact. Anywho, I refinished the wood.
I wanted it to be shiney. I do not plan on useing this as a combat gun. It is just my new toy.
On the same token, I did not want the wood to apear like glass. After looking around at others with piano type finishes, I made up my mind I was going to try something new.
I stripped it, sanded it lightly, then stained it twice and cleared it twice. I did NOT sand inbetween any coat.
I wanted the clear to apear "ruff" with the wood grains and messed up metal finish. I personally like it! If I get the metal redone and perfect, I will more than likely redo the wood in the same stain, but spend more time on the polyeurthane to get it really smooth.
There are some spots that could have been doen better, but this was my first time working with wood. . .
Here are some before and afters:

Kind of late, but tung oil is awesome on wood like that. It offers the look you want and great protection. All the more reason to buy another AK.
Jeff Cooper was a huge supporter of gun games, when he was winning them at least...

Nice! Forestocks look like red-tinted shellac; the old skool Russian way.
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
