    Default 22 rimfire advice

I'm thinking of buying a 22 rimfire and was wondering what everyone thinks the best one out there is? It needs to be Semi auto and would prefer it carrying at least 20 rounds in the mag. (almost said clip!) I want this to be very accurate for a semi. So what is the best, most accurate semi auto 22 rim out there today?

I have had a 10/22, Remington 597 and currently have a Sig 522 and I would say the 10/22 was the most accurate but the Sig is a real close second. I think I read a thread about CZ's and people were saying that they are very acuurate also.

Is your intent to use this as a carry gun, or as a range plinker/varmint gun?

I know you said you want it to carry 20 rounds, but I'm not sure that means you want to use the gun as a carry piece.

I have a Ruger Mark II with the competition slab side barrel, and it's quite a tack driver. I don't think anyone that has shot one of these guns would consider it a very effective carry gun though.

Best is relative to the user and the goal. That being said, a Ruger 10/22 is hard to argue with. Start with the cheapest you can get and swap the stock/barrel and go from there.

    OK let me clarify:
    semi auto
RIFLE 20 mag cap at least.
    I like mags not tubes
this must extreamly accurate. (semi here being the problem)
This gun is for plinking now but I'm looking for a very good 22 rimfire if the SHTF.
I'm looking for mickey mouse ears at 50 yards at least. I can do it with a bolt but I'm looking for a semi.

I would get a 10-22 and then buy the TI mags for it, you wont have any regrets there.
