Sonny didn't routinely carry anything other than a revolver or an automatic along the lines of a 1911, so any citizen who packs a MAC or an SBS under his arm will not fall within the "TV detective good-guy" matrix. When he used an M-16 or MP-5, it was always because they had pre-planned an assault. You don't want the jury to think that you pre-planned your defensive shooting, do you?
