I've had some rifles that just ate scopes. Muzzle brakes fixed most of them.

You may want to try the Burris Zee rings with the plastic inserts if you think it's a vibration through the receiver. It may offer some dampening.

Just the nature of the FAL. If you don't have the gas adjusted just right that big heavy bolt carrier beats the crap out of scopes.

What scope mount are you using?

How far does your fired brass go? What direction? Is it dinged from bouncing off the side of the rifle?

I have had my best luck with scopes intended for shotguns.

The gas setting makes alot of sense, i'm just getting that dialed in for each load. I like the shotgun scope has anyone tried trijicon fiber opps scope?

    Very pertinent question and comment.

Not all scopes are designed and manufactured equally.

The low-end Simmons, BSA, Tasco, and NCStar/Leapers stuff will be converted into an awkward carrying handle in short order. Not saying the OP needs a $600 Leupold, just a quality scope that's built for the intended purpose and a shotgun scope is a good place to start.

Also worth considering: Older Weaver and Lyman All-American scopes. There's been an old Weaver 3X with post and crosshair on my M1A for about eight years now and maybe 800-900 rds without a single issue, including holding zero as tight as a miser pinching a buffalo nickel.

It is hard to make a blanket statement by name brand as there are exceptions to everything.

I had a BSA 3-9x40 go over 7000 rounds on a FAL before it got funky. I wouldn't expect this as the norm though, pretty sure I just got lucky on that one.

The old Tasco "World Class Plus" scopes made in Japan are hell for stout also.

    Rich:

Good point; to clarify, my comment is directed to the current crop of low-end scopes.

I do not consider Japanese-made Tascos to be part of that set.

Believe it or not so far the tasco w/class lasted 1000+rnds
the nikon pro staff 200+rnds, now im thinking the trijicon reflex might work.
