I think for close in self defense, even the .410 shot will stop the altercation pretty quickly. Probably not the optimal round...but neither is .22 LR and pretty of folks use that for self defense.

true , now how many of us walk into the gun store and pick up a gun and say geeze this would work , but oh look , this one would be much less effective , gimme one of them instead?
And most pack a 22 for reasons this gun doesn't have i.e low recoil/small size
And truth be told I can't pick my shots and may need a shot less than perfect on the bad guy , not to mention it gets cold in PA what if the ex con that just broke in is wearing a coat/sweater/what have you/God forbid a leather jacket over the muscles he spent 20yrs building in the state pen? hmmm , what if my shot is to his side threw his arm into his vitals? , or his hands/arms are out and my shot may need to rip threw that?
Don't know but not all bad men are 100 pounds running around bare chested waiting to stand still and give me head/face shots
SURE IT COULD work but then again so MIGHT a pointy stick , however better options are so easy to come by why bother?

The results are pretty much what I figured.... Just like my TC Contender in 45 Long Colt/.410. It's a blast to shoot and fun shooting rats with, but once they get behind a piece of tin or thick wood you can't hit them....the .410 just dosen't penetrate...
Although it is fun to have a "walk thru" and blast pumpkins....LOL

If I was going to use it for self defense I would use the 45 long colt...

I don't think the results prove this is not a defensive tool. it might not rip a person in two but I tend to think it will stop an attack. Unless everyone thinks it wouldn't hurt to get shot by this thing. I can see the benefit in very close quarters, a house with a family in it.

you have 5 shots, if the bird shot or buck is not enough to make them retreat you can have the 45 loaded.

We have an entire thread full of examples how just showing a weapon was enough to stop a threat. How many more are stopped by a single shot and a miss? So I find it really hard to believe that someone getting shot with this from 15ft or less is not going to run away.

Brewguy is right...if you get blasted with that thing at 5-10 feet, the results would be devastating!
