    Default Looking for Gunsmith

Looking for an inexpensive gunsmith. I am really not sure what is wrong with my pistol but it appears to be the extractor is either bent or has something wrong with it. The gun seems to be working fine other than the occasional FTE and the slide will not lock open when the mag is empty. It is a Ruger P95, I like the gun alot and would like to get it fixed but I am on limited funds.

    Thanks,

Does he work from home or have a shop with regular hours where I could stop in?

I think his shop is right on West Liberty ave. Left hand side driving toward the city. I can't give you a landmark other than it's about 2 or three blocks before the Eat & Park if I have it right.

I don't know if Federal Firearms does any gunsmithing or not.
Firearms Unlimited might also depending on what legal issues the owner has.
    J.R.'s Customs is another.

I have never had work done by any of these so they are only suggestions to call.

the one at firearms unlimited left.

tony is back in his shop now, and it is just down the hill from the strip mall next to the old municipal bldg. if you park in the public pkg lot it's on the same side. he has regular business hours through the week.

    Thanks,
    slide lock prob:

    try a diff mag.

as for the extractor, this is a ruger "restricted" part, meaning the company wont sell them and wants you to return the slide to them to have it replaced, where they take your old one.

because of that they are hard to find on the market (unless you know where to look )

Yeah I have had the issue with 4 different mags, I wish it was something that simple.

    factory or aftermarket???

ive had to "adjust" every aftermarket mag for my p89 to get it to function to my standards, and i still have 2 that just wont cut it.

if your having the problem w/ factory mags, which seem more reliable, it prob your slide catch. not too hard to replace.

Both factory and aftermarket. If it had ALWAYS not worked I would understand that but it is something that started about a month ago.
