Sub compact .22 suggestions
I want something small as a secondary gun. Concealable and reasonably priced. Prefer .22 to keep the cost of ammo down.
What do you recommend?

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
I would almost never suggest you use you anything .22 as a defense gun, BUT, I'm tired of giving that speech, so I'll just suggest some guns.
Beretta Bobcat
NAA Mini Revolvers, come in many different barrel lengths, .22 lr and mag
Jennings, Davis, Bryco...
Walther P22
And my favorite option, buy a Ruger MKII or MKIII and put a short Tac Sol barrel on it.Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
Hey whats up? Umm..... in my opinion i would choose a 9mm sub compact for back up. A kahr would be cool. Its very thin and wouldnt be banging against your ankle if you carry it there lol..... The cost of 9mm is cheap aslo and with better stopping power. But .22 works great also (.22 magnum) is preffered. But yea .22 is cool man. You have my vote lol

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
I already carry a glock 26. I guess I'm really just looking for a .22 pistol to cut down on ammo costs at the range. The Beretta looks like it would suit.
A friend has one. I'll try it and see if I like it .

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
There is a big difference in wanting a target pistol to increase your shooting skills or wanting a pocket gun chambered in .22 LR. Your post is unclear as to what you exactly want (they contradict) so I will voice my opinion on a 22 target pistol:
The Ruger Mark III is the best value in a 22LR semi auto. There are many variations including the polymer framed 22/45 and the Hunter series. I have a Hunter and absolutely enjoy it. Shooting it has helped my skills develop and stay sharp. I also have a Beretta Neos and it is a fine handgun as well.
Trying to use a "mousegun" as a range tool will be uncomfortable and may help reinforce bad shooting habits. The full size devices like the Ruger Mark III is designed to be shot quite a bit and accurately. The compact .22 LR pistols are designed to be carried a lot and shot only a little.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
Got a 21A about 15 years ago. Shot the living daylights out of it. Still goes every time. Finish is gone. It's all nicked up. Still works. Have a Walter TPH. Jams most of the time Can't trust it to go off every time and it cost over two times the 21A. Go figure. Both are small and easy to carry. Guess why the 21A is all nicked up.

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
Concerning pocket handguns. In the past I could never understand the purpose of these tiny little guns. However I've given it more thought. As a deep cover weapon it might be all you can carry and rule #1 is-Have a gun. I'm not talking about undercover LEO's either. There is another thread in here about fans entering Citizens Bank Park(Phillies). There are no metal detectors or wanding but the "pat downs" vary wildly from useless to very intrusive. A NAA revolvers or something similar might be the only thing you can get in.

For the price of many of the other guns, you could get a 22 conversion kit for your glock and practice your live fire drills and save money.

Probably run you about 250 or so, and they make one for the 26.

Re: Sub compact .22 suggestions
Sometimes you just want a pocket gun, and sometimes you just want it to be 22lr. Nothing wrong with that.
I have a thing for pocket guns. Mostly for novelty and recreation but it's all good.
I shoot my Bobcat 21a every time I go to the range and it makes me smile
I love that little bastid. No muzzle flip means 7 shots through one ragged hole at 15-20 feet.
(OK so it's a fairly large ragged hole but...)
Others that look good include:
NAA Mini Revolvers
Phoenix Arms HP22
If you want to consider 32acp there's always the Keltec P32.
The nice thing about all of these is that they are in the neighborhood of $200-ish.
