    Default transfer of a rifle

Is it required to go to a dealer to transfer a rifle?

I won a gun at a bar. The gun, I assume was won by another person at a gun show. I was told to pick up the gun, I have to meet the other party at a dealer to do the transfer. Its a ruger bolt action.

Unless the person that you have to meet is not a PA resident I do not see why the need for a FFL, if he's paying I would just do it.

Thats what I thought too, I dont want to have to pay a transfer fee that isnt needed. Hopefully the gun store would tell me that.

You don't have to but I wouldn't want a gun that was in my name to end up being used in a crime. I guess if I knew the person.
Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

yeah, thats probably why, its fine, I may just have him meet me at the store I normally buy from ans see if they will just take it and give me a store credit, instead of transfering it to me. I dont need a rifle that big.

Not to offend, but the logic of fear of a gun "in your name" being used in a crime is what they use to pass "must report stolen gun" laws.
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Generally, between two Pa. residents, no FFL involvement is is required for long guns.
Some folks prefer to go to a FFL so as to have the background check done on the buyer. Piece of mind I guess...

Since Pa. has no registration, there are no guns "in your name", save for federally registered title-II weapons.
