    Default Gun Recommendation needed

    Hello all,

I will soon be getting my first pistol. I mainly will be using this for home defense but may occasional conceal carry and want something comfortable (I am 5'11, 100 lbs)

I want to get a nice gun but relatively inexpensive. I like Sig's but too much money. I like the Taurus Millennium 9mm. 9mm seems like a good choice because the ammo is less expensive, correct?

I am in Jersey so 15 round mag limit.

    Any suggestions?

    9mm is cheaper than .380acp, .38spl, .357, 40sw, and 45acp.

Look at glocks or springfield armory XD's they fit the bill for your price range and ease of use. You can find most brand new for about 500, on sale for less, and even less used.

I thought the mag capacity was limited to 10 rounds in jersey?

And if you actually get a permit to carry in NJ come back and let us know about it, because it's nearly impossible. Good luck,.

Yes, I understand that. I will be applying for a FL license.

Are you aware that you cannot carry in new jersey with a florida carry license?

At the moment I'm working on finding my Ruger sr9c....Nice and thin, 10 rd mag, accessory rail, a nice compact 9mm...look it up and maybe go hold one! It felt very nice in my hand and it sounds like I am about your size...normal pricing you'll see is about 400.00 i'm looking for lower of course. Cheaper than a Glock for sure.

Consider the Ruger SR9C. Comes in significantly cheaper than a Glock, has a manual safety (if you're into that kind of thing), and comes standard with a 10-round and nice grip-extended 17-round magazine (too bad, I don't think they make a 15-round version of this for Jersey, so you'd get 2 10-rounders).

Another decent cheaper option (about $400) is the Stoeger Cougar in 9mm or .40 cal. Not super for CC, but not horrible either. This one has 15 round capacity standard.

I'm thinking maybe you should skip the pistol and use the $$ to buy some food (g)
