    Default Mid range 1911's

I'm interested in a mid range 1911 in the near future. Was looking at different companies and, for the money it seems that a Springfield TRP is the most bang for your buck.

My question to you is, are there any other 1911's in this price range that can be compared to the TRP for the amount of features it has? Or does the TRP take the cake?

The Taurus PT1911 has a ton of features standard, and I'm happy with mine (purchased used back in March).

You'll find folks that are either very happy with them or wouldn't touch 'em with a 10' cleaning rod, but it may be something else to consider.

I looked at one of those too. For the price it seems very good. I wasn't to happy with the fit/finish on the gun though and I hated the sights. TRP seems to have better quality parts/finish/fit, etc... but you sure are paying for all that.

    PT1911's are low end

IMO youre right on w/ the TRP, it's the best bang for your buck in the mid-range game

Shit, the TRP is midrange? Looks like I'm getting a low end 1911 then...

I guess since the sky is the limit with Wilson and Nighthawk and etc the TRP is around the middle-ish. Make it a stainless SA GI for me. My ass is broke. Maybe even an RIA, if I could find a local one...

I'd look closely at the offerings from S&W and also Sig - but if you can find one, go for a Dan Wesson. There is a used stainless DW on the forums at NJGF.

My Mid range starts at KIMBER I have three 1911s one a 198X the Colt Commander I tried to Semi Customize it myself though the most tested and used it still does not have the feel of the Kimber.

I have a bought 2nd hand Sam 1911 customized its still does not feel as neat as the Kimber it looks better at a distance but when you start moving action the Kimber feels better and works smoother. Accuracy wise they all shoot the 10 ring out at 10-7 yards so I can't tell and thats what a worked 1911 should do.

With the 1911s its all about what you want to start out with. The Taurus is a great looking gun but that doesn't matter with a 1911 you will make it fit YOU, if you are really into 1911s.

IMHO buying a Kimber is paying for a name, but that's just me.

I have a Nighthawk Talon and a Kimber Warrior. The Nighthawk was obviously more expensive.

The Kimber for the money is ok. It's obviously not the quality and fit of my Nighthawk, but it's not terrible.

I shot a Colt mark iv a couple weeks ago that my friend bought for about $500. It was pretty nice. Target sights and all, not a bad deal.
