Okay, thanks. It's so funny because when I was looking to move up here I was told "whatever you do avoid the gated communities" which is the opposite of what you usually hear.

Most are very nice places to live. There are a few that are notorious and you should keep away from, but this is just like anything else. The main reason people don't move into gated communities is because they don't like living under HOA (home owners association) rules.

I just get relieved every time I hear that something else other then a gun was used in a violent crime. It supports the fact that someone who wants to do harm can turn anything into a weapon.

No, most suck to live in. the majority are bad, especially all the large ones.

In what way? I see no difference between living in a gated community here, and 5 miles down the road when I wasn't in a gated community. The difference being that I can't shoot on my property here, and there is a gate that stops random scumbags from gaining entry with a vehicle. There is a roving armed security patrol that stops morons from speeding in a neighborhood full of children. Other than that, there's not much difference IMO. Of course there is the HOA, which has stupid mandates and bylaws, but I'm renting so that doesn't really affect me. The overwhelming majority of people here appear to be decent folk with a few vacationer plates from ny and nj.

The gated communities you're describing are a far cry from where I live. Comparing IML to PCP is like comparing Effort to Harlem and trying to discern similarities where none exist. The West End is still the safest, best kept place in the Poconos.
