Default LTCFs on hold after 8/20 until 9/1

From page 5 of today's Butler Eagle (newspaper):

"County puts gun permits on hold

The Butler County Sheriff's office will temporarily stop issuing gun permits from 4:30 p.m. Aug. 20 to 8:30 a.m. Sept. 1 while the state upgrades its computer system."

Interesting. Does this means PICS is down from 8/20 until 9/1? Or does this mean the Sheriff is full of shit?

IF PICS is down, then ALOT of FFL's would lose a ton of money if they couldn't sell a gun for a week and a half. It would also generally screw over the CJ system when they're running background checks on people... I think the sheriff has it all wrong.

Renewed my LTCF earlier in the week, and indeed they had a sign up to this effect. The nice woman who renewed my LTCF did not know why it was going to take a week plus. Slupe was not around to ask.

On the upside, it took all of 3 minutes and most of that was because the printer that produces the actual LTCF is slow as hell. No problems checking my firearm in, either.
