1911 ambi safety not disengaging if a lefty tries to shoot.
Being a righty I've never noticed this on my Charles daly. I took my girl shooting today and several times she would go to shoot and complain that nothing was happening. I would take the gun from her, flick the safety down, and fire a round. Then I noticed that the right side of the ambi safety had way too much play. My gf who is a lefty was flicking the safety which was moving to the down position on the right side but the left side of the safety wasn't following.
I just got this full sized Charles daly EFS four days ago used and have a 30 day warranty. Should I bring it to the shop an hour away or is this something that simply needs tightening. Excuse my ignorance, first 1911.
Thanks Guys!

I would take it back to the shop-
Both thumb locks (safety) should be tight and functional 100% of the time.
Many ambi safetys use an internal tab that locks the two together, if this does not fit well or has been altered by a previous owner it could fail when you need it most.

Thanks guys! I called the shop and they'll take it Friday. I was wondering if I should take it shooting before I hand her over just in case anything else is wrong I'll know about it before hand.
I wonder if my warranty is suspended while the gun is out being worked on. If it's in the shop for two weeks that hardly fair that I get half a warranty.
