Default Any SKS fans? I have owned about 7 of them,

and I think they are very underrated rifles. I have an old 5 digit SN Chinese Type 56 right now that has a great trigger and shoots much better than any other SKS I have owned before. I keep is loaded with HP's for "just in case" with about 100 rounds in several bandoliers nearby. I have left this rifle loaded for over 2 years, taken it to the range and fired it witn NO problems at all. I fire it every few months now just to enjoy shooting it.

It is the only autoloading rifle I own right now and I may try to find another one later this summer.

With a decent trigger, floated barrel and good ammo they are a lot more accurate than most people believe.
Just my humble opinion, of course.

Yeah, they're okay rifles. Especially when back in the day you could get them for $80. Now that they are pushing $300 +, it seems to me that the AK is a much better choice.

I with you dogngun, very underated rifle. I have 11 of them and I am always looking for something out of the ordinary. I have a couple from each of the easy to get countries (China, Romania, Yugo, Albania and Russia) now I have moved on to collecting specific years and I am always looking for the illusive East German and a Nam bring back that won't send me to the poor house.

Did you see the picture I posted a few weeks ago under "Custom SKS"? It is a "Paratrooper" model, a bit shorter than the standard version. I have owned several myself. They all functioned flawlessly. Very good rifle, but outclassed by the AK series.

Great rifle. Everyone should own one.

I dismissed them for years because of the lack of a detachable magazine. When I finally did get one (Yugo), I was very pleased with it. The prices a few years ago made them an unbelievable value and even at today's prices, I think they are worth every penny, as they are solid, reliable rifles.

Also, for those who are considering one, note that if you want an AK, get an AK. The SKS is not an AK - no matter how much you try to make it into one.

Agreed...I purchased one with a detachable and I didnt like it....so I put the fixed mag back on it....

IMO owning an SKS means you should own an AK as well...or a few..
