    Default bore brush

May be a dumb question...but I'm not too proud to say I don't know the answer...

Is a .38spcl bore brush and a 9mm bore brush the same?

and why aren't brushes labeled? I have 3 of them and I don't know what size they are...I only know the 9mm one.

Yes, they are the same. The brushes you have are likely 9mm, 10mm, 45 cal. or close enough to that. You can use any brush that is a tight fit.

.38 and 9mm are super close in diameter. .355 for 9mm and .357 for .38. So your brush will work in either.

Why aren't the brushes labeled? Because you can use them for other things, like cleaning crap out from that space between the counter and the fridge, or cleaning the Dorrito crumbs out of your keyboard.

    STOP PEEKING IN MY WINDOW!!!!

Now, to the OP, I'm SO not anal about brush size. Whichever is pretty tight goes through. Patches, too. I just cut them to roughly different sizes. And my little cleany pole patch thing (technical term) doesn't fit down either pistol barrel, so I just roll the patch up, jam it in, and poke it through without the patch attachment screwed on. Works fine.

Actually,if your barrel is only dirty with powder residue, the proper size brush is okay, but on a heavily leaded or copper fouled barrel,I routinely use much larger brushes.Shooting hot loads with lead bullets,I'd bet more than once I've run a .45 brush through a .38 Super barrel...
