York Riflemen Secretary Pleads Guilty
Thought I would share this. Many of us on PAFOA are members at York Riflemen as well. I am truly dissapointed and Mrs. Throne should be ashamed of herself for pissing away the trust that was given to her by the membership of this organization that has been around a very, VERY long time. Her sentence was FAR too light.

Wow. It must suck to be the President, and get blindsided by that news. Especially if the range had ideas for that money.
Sounds like they might be looking for new, paying members to help bolster their coffers. :wink:While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: York Riflemen Secretary Pleads Guilty
I am dissapointed by several things:
1st - As a longtime member (5+ years) I am a little bit peeved that I read about this in the paper and the executive committee did not bother to let the general membership know anything about this situation. They have been aware of it since October 2009! I do understand that may have been different if I had attended any of the monthly meetings. HOWEVER....it sure would have been nice to have allowed the membership to chime in on the situation.
2nd- The club president stated he was 'satisfied' with the resolution of the case. Well...again....would have been nice to have had input from the general membership as to whether or not they agreed that it was 'acceptable' or not. It was OUR money that she stole after all.
3rd- EVERY club that I have ever belonged to has a very stringent policy of annual audits. How did this slip by our club...I will never know.
I have always enjoyed the York Riflemen Club because of it's simple way of doing things and it's old fashioned ideals (of which I share!). This seems to have taken a bit of the shine off of the club and it is a shame.
