    Default Colt 1911 question

I'm looking around for my first 1911 and asking alot of questions before I buy, A couple people that I talked to have recommended a Colt but one that they say if you look at the barrel end of the muzzle there is a star shaped pattern. I got no clue what they are talking about but I hear that it is supposed to be a very accurate and worthwhile gun.
What are they talking about and what model is it?
I know you folks know what your talking about so any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question about the star barrel but I can tell you that you will never regret buying a Colt. I have a 1942 M1911A1 Army and it is extremely reliable and accurate. It is just as accurate as my Sig 229 Elite and gray box 239. I might sell mine or trade it for something else but I'm afraid I'll regret it later.

My colt 1911 A1 and my Springfield 1911 A1 are just as nice as each other. now, my Springfield was made in America, they are now being made in brazil... so, you can buy American with the colt and spend more to get the same pistol or you can shop around.

in MY eyes, if i was going to buy something made in brazil i would get the taurus, because its fully loaded for less coin and shoots just as well.

I own a bunch of Colt's,all custom series 70's.No idea what the heck the star thing is about. With any 1911,you get what you pay for.The bottom end 1911A1 Springfields and Colt's are both nice guns, not crazy about the Brazilian Springfield's,though.I recently shot a Taurus,REALLY nice gun! These days, there are so many different manufacturers making 1911's,it's tough to pick one.Best thing to do is look at them all and find one you like,THEN ask if it's a good piece or not..

Yep, I own a bunch of Colts and the star thing is a mystery to me too. Many people will say you are overpaying for a Colt and it's probably true. However, they do hold their value quite well. Every collection should include at least one 70 Series IMO.

The "Star thingie" might just be some un-educated soul trying to describe the appearance of six-groove rifling, as seen from themuzzle end. Who knows? I've never heard of any such thing, either.

Yup it's a mystery to me too, but when a second person mentioned it I thought that I would run it by you guy's and gals. If it were true I figured what a better place to ask. Well thanks for the input, I'll let you know if I get the mystery solved

That was my first thought, But really not sure. I've had a Series 70 Colt since the 70's. Nice gun. I'm kinda liking the New Remington's also.

Like somebody said, It seems like everybody is making them these days.
