Default Which has the better action? AK or Mini 30

Well. What do you think. Both are very reliable as far as I know.

How would you rate one over the other.

The AK has seen military and combat service all over the world since it's birth and has survived the nastiest climates and environments mother nature can dish out. There's no question, the AK is proven far beyond what the Mini-30 is.

My vote is for the AK over the Mini 30 (assuming the mini 30 has the same action as the mini 14).

Not only reliable. But so simple at the same time. It amazes me that this thing operates the way it does. It is such a simple operation. But it functions flawlessly and under all conditions.

The mini has a solid and smooth action, maybe a little smoother than an ak. However, the mini looked like it had tighter tolerances...who doesn't love a nice sloppy AK, its gonna shoot everytime.

If you're thinking about getting a Mini-30, be aware that not all of them like the cheap Wolf 7.62x39mm ammo. I had one that functioned just fine on a diet of American-made ammunition, but just wouldn't fire Wolf reliably. The Ruger's firing pin was a much smaller diameter than my SKS's, and didn't protrude anywhere near as far on firing. Sometimes the round would fire, sometimes not.

On the other hand, a friend of mine says his father's Mini-30 has never been fed anything but Wolf, and likes it just fine. So you pays your $$$ and you takes your chances...

Mini's action is better designed in turm of accuracy and technology. But if you consider perfection of action in term of how reliable it works under ANY condition, and ease of manufacture so that even some low tech nation in africa could manufacture, then AK hands down
