Default Finally got off my duff...

and got my LTCF. Less than 20 minutes in and out, and there were 2 people ahead of me, so he did all 3 of ours at the same time. My daughter even got a "Junior Deputy" sticker...LOL.

Now to find a decent holster.....I'm testing out a SOB that JohnnyBmore is loaning me (in hopes of a sale ).

Someone has some Fobus holsters (C21) listed in the Classifieds.....anyone have experience with them?

I had the same experience at the York Courthouse when I was back home earlier this month. Congrats.

I've acquired some Fobus holsters here and there, and it really depends on what you're looking for, and what gun you plan to carry. I got a 1911 Fobus for free and tried it on and shelved it, it just didn't feel good. I have a Fobus paddle holster for my Glock 19 and don't have any problems with it, and I like it because it has a retention snap/strap built into it. Holster snobs will probably tell you they're crap. You get what you pay for.

I have a Galco for my full-sized 5" 1911, and I'm very happy with it.

just my 2 cents on the holster questions you asked:

i strongly recommend against SOB carry for two reasons.

    1. having something hard over your spine is asking to turn a simple fall that would be nothing at all into a paralyzing injury.

    2. the draw is very slow, accessing the gun in a fight is difficult, and you necessarily sweep stuff other than your target with the muzzle when drawing.

also, i would not carry in a fobus holster, personally. they are fine for the range, but i have never seen one that i would feel comfortable actually carrying in because they are too easy to break and, thus, negatively impact your ability to retain the gun should someone attempt to take it from you. to be fair, though, the only ones i have much first-hand experience with are their paddle holsters.

I have a fobus and as LRT said, I only use it for the range.

I have been more than happy with Galco holsters. Use one for a full size 1911 and I hardly know it's there.

Be sure to get a good belt.

Thanks for the input on the Fobus holsters.....I'm starting to see a pattern here, and think I'll look at some others, then...
