Ammo prices
I am going to be buying a decent amount of ammo pretty soon. For my commie calibers, a place with free shipping like ammoman is great ($219/1000rnds Wolf x39), but for 12 gauge, .45acp, 9mm, and .223, can Walmart really be beat by any significant amount? Especially when you consider shipping?

Re: Ammo prices
I haven't found any sources for 9mm that beat walmarts price on Federal Champion. Just under $10 for 50. The only problem is the quantity limit, only 6 boxes per day. The WWB is a little more, but you can get twice as much per day since they come in 100 round boxes.

Depending on the shipping cost, the J&G spam cans of yugo x39 might work out to your advantage as far as cost goes. It is corrosive, however its excellent ammunition.

Re: Ammo prices
For 1,000 rounds you're spending about 40$ more if you bought the WWB mega paks over federal at the lower cost.
It's simple, for every 100 rounds add 4 bucks.
That's an extra 200 rounds in savings if you went with federal over WWB.
This is a rough estimate working without exact prices. Federal 9mm costs around $9.80 and the WWB mega-pak costs just under $24.00 .Last edited by jcabin; July 31st, 2010 at 09:18 PM.

Re: Ammo prices
no, it's around $24 dollars for 600 rounds, $50 (48) for 1200 rounds.
That's not a minimal difference for the amount that I shoot, so I generally choose Federal now that WWB has gone up in price. Honestly though, I've considered buying in bulk online, just for the convenience. I'd be paying more, but I could do it all at once and be covered for a while. Considering that they only have what I want about half to a third of the time, I waste a lot of time on getting ammo, and my time is worth at least something.

Re: Ammo prices
Got it, you were considering 1000 rounds.
I buy both. WWB rocks serious shit. I love that ammo for cheap blasting. One of my firearms prefers it.
But the price is getting comparable to online Fiocchi.

Re: Ammo prices
That's promising, though supply is still a limiting factor. Can't buy what they don't have...
Work and some hand to hand training have limited my shooting recently, so it's probably been 4 weeks since I bought ammo. It'll be a happy day when I can pick up a case in a single visit though.
