380 or pocket 9 with a safety?
looking to get the wife a small carry in either 380 or 9,, but,, it must have a mechanical safety. She does not like the LCP or the little keltek as they have no safety. It will be her first handgun. In fact yesterday I had her to the range on 93 where she shot for the first time. She did ok with my compact 45 1911.. tho she said it had too much kick. and My friends 357magnum, but with 38's liked that the best(less kick), and a taurus pt109? it was the small taurus 45.. She hit the target at 25 yards.. but we used big targets.. she wants something with less kick and she has small hands so the grips on the 45 were too big. I had put on wrap around rubber to soften the kick,, should have left the wood grips on. I liked the bersa or walther ppk380 type,, but its a little heavy, maybe the beretta tomcat. Seams most of the pocket or smaller guns have no safeties. At least I got her over the fear of guns that she was raised with.
Thanks,

Sig p238
I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

The new S&W Bodygaurd .380 has a safety.
Also Kahr makes a pm9 with a safety.

Re: 380 or pocket 9 with a safety?
check out this book i just wrote on the next thread, in post 65. i just went over all this stuff:

also, based on your OP, i would recommend you try a S&W 908, or a S&W M&P or Springfield Armory XD, all three come standard or are available with a manual safety, iircLast edited by chauncey; July 25th, 2010 at 11:27 PM.
