Default My wife wants to kill some deer. What should she use?

My wife is really wanting to kill some deer. We have a couple friends who do some hunting, a place to hunt, but she has no rifle. I am sure a few of you good men have an opinion on What caliber and brand of rifle I should buy for her.
    Thanks

    Mike

I would be worried if I were you.

That is, if she refers to you as "dear."

Ruger M77MKII. Get her a .243 in the Compact model.

How about her car? If she drives like my GF your freezer will be packed.....if you don't mind blood clots

Seriously I must sound like a broken record, but a .30-30 is a great all around gun.
Plenty of stopping power, and mild recoil.

    there are many...
a 7-08 is a really good choice in my opinion, 30-30 as stated above is also an excellent choice.
my wife likes shooting my 30-06...no hunting for her though...

and ya may wanna worry if she does start or continue calling you dear

243 is an excellent dear round that's very easy to handle. Frankly, so is .308, which is cheap and commonly available.

    +1. Better range than a 30-30....lighter recoil than the .308 or 7mm-8.

Why don't you two hop in the car and go down to a few local shops, let her look at and hold different rifles. Should be able to come up with something that she likes, then all you have to do is pick a caliber. .243Win is a good choice, as is .270, .308 or .30-06.

If you could find a used Remington Mohawk 600 in .243 you might just be set. Or a new model Seven if you wanted to go that route.
