I'm not 100%, but going by what I was told a few years ago by a LEO and later by a range/ gun shop owner, anytime you are carrying a weapon for work purposes, you need to be ACT-235 certified. Whether that is correct or not, I'm not sure, but these folks have always given me solid information.

I believe that you could do Bail Enforcement unarmed, but I don't think I'd go that route.

PHLJJS is absolutely correct. If you carry for work purposes, you need Act235 certification. However, Act235 doesn't allow you to carry other than to/from work.

True, but since he's a convicted felon, I don't think he has a choice. Though his approach does make for some good TV.

i keep waiting for the episode where he accidentally targets a real criminal who really doesn't want to go back to prison.

of course, they won't air that episode...and the episode before it will end up having been the final episode.

As I understand it you need an act 235 to carry as a part of your work duties. If your work duties do not require you to carry than you can still carry for personal defense. There's nothing in the law that says the LTCF is only good for when you're "off the clock".

I know of Tow Truck drivers who legally carry their sidearm for defense even though their job description does not state they must carry.

ACT 235 training covers use of deadly force and much more than just the background check needed for LTCF.

Having a gun and carrying it is only a portion of what you need to perform a job that puts yourself and others at risk. Take the training....

    my 2 cents...
