Default AK selection - Help me decide.

I recently bought my first AK...so now I obviously need another one. After the Christmas expenses are finished, I am going to get myself one last nice toy before focusing on other money pits for a while.

These are the 4 choices that I am considering, but certainly open to suggestions. If you could only buy one, which one would you get?

(I included Polytech/Norinco, but it seems that finding one in new condition for the $1250+\- price range could take some time.)

Links to choices, in no particular order.

From your choices I would definitely recommend the Arsenal SAM-7. It's solid, tight, reliable milled and downright one of the best AK's on the market. I regretfully sold mine but it was definitely awesome.

Honestly unless you're dying for a chrome lined bore go with one of the new yugo imports, the quality on those is great and you could buy 2 for the price of any that you've asked about.

I've also always thought that atlantic was kind of a ripoff.

I have this, could see spending a fortune on an AK. Picked mine up on sale this summer for $625 including the FFL transfer.

This is out of stock but comes back in stock fairly quickly.

For his price limit I think a Polytech is out of his range. Otherwise it would be my first choice and I'm sure a lot of others would recommend the same!

I don't have one but I hear the Yugo O-PAP's are great. I fondled a couple at the Oaks show last night and they seemed real nice.

The Arsenal SAM-7 would be the best second only to a Polyech Legend, and in some respects better. I had one long ago but sold it, regretfully. I have two other Arsenals now - the SGL21-61 in 7.62 and a Bulgarian SLR-104 in 5.45. The Arsenals are the best of the current manufactured AK's IMO.

I stay far away from any Century built or contracted POS anymore. I had a Century built AMD that fired out of battery and blew part of the trunnion/ receiver apart, and a Century built Yugo M70 that was built funny and didn't even strip the cartridge from the mag. For these reasons I stay FAR away, when it comes to firearms it is of utmost importance they are built right because lives and safety are at stake.

I'm no expert, but I've seen this one posted numerous times and each time the response is that it's a lower priced rifle that's sold at a high price "because it's red".

    Someone will surely elaborate.

Arsenal is the 'Gold Standard' when it comes to AK's IMO. The SGL's are fantastic!
