What a shame. I shoot up there sometimes, and I have noticed that there is more and more riff-raff going there now.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

I do as well. I think it's still a safe place to shoot but I am considering joing a sportsman club since my boys usually shoot with me.

    .
Thank You, I just posted in that thread a little while ago, this morning !

    @ WVU:

Most of the people I meet up there are nice, and nobody I would worry about; I've happily let total strangers fire whatever I'm using that day, without any problems, but I'm done with that.

I see too many "wannabe assassins"/ "mall ninjas" shooting up there, with no regard for safety, and no common sense. . . .

The last time I shot there (rifle), most of the benches were full: 2 guys were on the far right, shooting across the firing line at the short range, while everyone else was firing straight to the 100-yard targets.

The acting range officer didn't even say a word, and I just got the impression that a lot of the guys there didn't know the rules, or didn't care. I posted in the thread that Curmudgeon linked to, that if I'm shooting alone, I take my rifle with me downrange, and always take a few shells in my pocket too.

I know it's against the rules, but I'm not any more dangerous taking an empty rifle downrange, than any of the guys who show up there bump-firing full mags from an AK, or shooting across the firing line.
