Re: 45 long colt on deer?
Hey, welcome to the 45 colt hunting club. You will love the round for it. Get yourself a blackhawk or similar heavier framed ruger or freedom arms in the future and you will be able to use heavy rounds that can take just about anything that walks on this continent. One caveat, get some sort of quick on/off ear protection. Don't ever hunt with a revolver without it, no matter what caliber. I like the kind that has the foam plugs and the u shaped hard plastic connector. (looks like headphones with earbuds sort of) That way u can listen to the woods, and get them on fairly easy for the shot. One word of warning, once you start handgun hunting with 45 colt, you'll be addicted!

I got the hartford and its a decent gun for $250. Didn't get to use it this season but for sure it will be out for this comming one.So, it's like bow hunting then tried it my first year and was hooked( now I'm switching to a long bow).
